In March of 2011, an ex Kansas City native, Tim Buchholtz, met up with two Lincolnites, Josh Werner and Jacob Hepburn, in hopes of putting together a band. They recruited Brian Hage on drums and the writing process began. Sure enough an EP was born, self-titled and a brainchild of the four musicians. The music fit no specific genre, but was desirable to listeners of all types. Shortly after the EP was released they recruited Jeremy Wurst to add another layer to the band. As a five piece, they started moving towards instrumental arrangements, using various instruments and even the voice itself as another instrument adding to the melodic layers.

Aren't We All Dead isn't a band in the typical sense. Guitars are played like pianos and violins, bass as a wall of sound, and drums that are dynamic and expressive. The musicians in this band don't create riffs and hooks. They see sounds as different colors and arrange them accordingly. Everything seen and heard affects the music, both good and bad. Aren't We All Dead is a project dedicated to sound.
